The Members of Opinion Zero

John Henkel:
Original guitarist and 3rd original bassist. Wrote about 85% of the songs but that is open to debate. With Sam, he was the main driving force behind the band.

Deloy Samuel Preston III “SAM ZERO”:
Sam was a blaring klaxon of a front man, all 350 pounds of him. He was the funniest drunk guy in the world. He had the worst sense of rhythm and the best sense of humor. Sam and John were the continuous members of the band from conception. Unfortunately, Sam died of a heroin overdose in late 1996.

Mike “Rambo” Piek:
A Marine Deserter and Goth Pretty Boy, the girls loved him! He was the drummer on the ‘Storm and Stress’ tape release and was one of the founding members of band. He eventually left the band but went on to form several other bands.

Brent Badertscher:
Original bassist and next door neighbor. He was John’s Paul McCartney in W.S.B., Progerian Youth, and early O.Z. He could write a song on demand in about 3 minutes. He moved to Salt Lake City to escape debt or something.

Slug Useless:
The other Original Bassist. He took over when Brent left so the band wouldn’t break up. He was the bassist on the RV recordings.

“Psychic” Mike Gray:
U.P.S. met him in El Paso, TX on tour in 1985. He was in the band F.T.13. Slug and Sam talked him into moving to Tucson to play guitar for the band. Slug left the band shortly after that and John moved to bass. O.Z. had one show with 2 guitars (Mike & John). Mike was on guitar for ‘Storm and Stress’ and ‘The Jolt Sessions’. He was an O.Z. House dweller as well. He was with the band until they broke up.

Dean “Woolly Booger” Meenach - a.k.a. Dean Miles:
O.Z. wunderkind super drummer; O.Z. House stalwart and closet dweller. His style and consistency transformed the way the band wrote songs. He taught Sam to sing in time with the music. He is the drummer on ‘The Jolt Sessions’ recording. He moved to Portland, Oregon.

“Dugga” Doug Hand:
Drummer of brother band Civil Order, Dugga dug O.Z.’s music and could really play. His greatest achievement was the gang violence set at the ‘Mount Lemmon Baja Arizona Festival’.
